SailormoonR Season Summary
Okay, this season is broken up into two different parts Sailormoon Return, and Sailormoon Romance. The first part is called the Doom Tree part. and the second is mixed with the Manga. The reason why it was split, is because the Anime was doing their season from the Manga, and the Manga was monthly, and the series was weekly. So the anime had to stretch the stories out quite a bit, but the Doom Tree Series was just to fill up time.
The series starts out with Usagi and her friends remembering nothing of their past experiences as Sailor senshi. One night, a pod crash lands into Tokyo. People go to see, and find a small craft. Then a monster attacked Naru. Usagi in normal form tries to help, but doesn't have enough strength. Luna sees no other way to save Naru than to reactivate Sailormoon's memories. She initiates what is commonly known as the Luna Mind Meld. Sailormoon's memories return, and she is back in fighting (almost) form. But after awhile, Sailormoon can't handle the monsters, and Luna reactivates the other senshi's memories. She doesn't however revive Tuxedo Kamen's memories, because Sailormoon didn't want him to remember.
At this point, a strange figure only known as the Tsukikage no Knight (NA Moonlight Knight) appears, and defends Sailormoon, like Tuxedo Kamen did. It cannot be Mamoru though because they show up in the same room together. I'll share with you this now, that Tsukikage no Knight was actually the fighting spirit of Mamoru, which fought to save Sailormoon. When Mamoru lost his memory, his spirit of fighting for Sailormoon lived on, and at this point, Tuxedo Kamen is reborn.
While this is happening, two new students arrive at school, one called Ail (Al), and the other Ann (Anne) if you say the two names together it sounds like alien. Anyway, Ail develops a huge crush on Usagi, and Ann develops a crush on Mamoru, yet Usagi is going out with Mamoru, but Mamoru doesn't know it yet. As you can imagine, there are some pretty funny situations. But these two new students are the aliens that had crash landed in Tokyo that night. They had brought with them the "Doom Tree" which craved energy. The energy was gathered by cardians, made from cards of course, they were changed into Cardians by Ail playing his magical flute. Anyways later on, the senshi destroy almost all of them, and this makes Ail and Ann mad. One day Usagi visits the two and asks if they're feeling better because they were out of school. They told her they were fine, and Usagi became curious and explored the house, only to find a giant tree that just captured her and started sucking her energy away. The senshi find out and come to the rescue.
Then in the final episodes, the senshi face the tree, and are suprised to see that the tree kills Ann. The tree then begins to tell the senshi it used to be the tree of life, it decided to make children, but many of them craved power, and became wicked, they fought each other, and only to were left, they were named "The Makaiju Children" The tree needed energy to survive, but was only receiving the negative energy from people, it was really dying, it sked to be be healed by Sailormoon, and she heals the tree, and children, and they become children again, and the tree becomes a very tiny seedling. The two with the tree seedling fly away hoping to start all over again. To live happily and peacefully.
The season starts with Usagi and Mamoru on a date in the park. A small ball drops down from the sky and bounces off Mamoru's head while he was kissing Usako, then a small child falls down from the sky, knocking Usagi down, and ends up kissing Mamoru. The girl then demands the Ginzuishou from Usagi with a gun in hand. Usagi tells her she doesn't have it and then Chibi-Usa runs off, later on she brainwashes Usagi's family that the little girl was a cousin of Usagi. We later find out her name is Chibi-Usa, and she has a floating ball named Luna-P. Luna-P can transform into any object Chibi-Usa needs. Chibi-Usa and Usagi seem to always fight a lot, and Chibi-Usa ends up sleeping in Usagi's room!
Anyway, around this time, creatures start appearing around Tokyo. Of course, Sailormoon and the senshi kick butt and stop the creatures. But four sisters appear (controlling the creatures), and seem to want Chibi-Usa. The senshi protect her, until Rubeus, the four sisters leader appears. There's a big battle and the good guys win again. But later on it turns out that the klan are from another time and they are aliens. They were sent to the past to take over the "Crystal Points" and "The Rabbit" (Chibi-Usa) is a source of great power! While this develops, Sailormoon manages to heal the four evil sisters, making them human, and not evil. Chibi-Usa later finds out that the senshi are really her friends "Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako" Chibi-Usa steals Usagi's brooch and tries to return to the future and fails. The UFO they traveled in comes down to Earth , and takes the Inner Senshi except for Sailormoon, and Chibi-Usa. Sailormoon gets pissed at Chibi-Usa for taking her brooch, and almost slaps her. They think of a plan, but Usagi leaves early, and Chibi-Usa follows, Usagi henshins, and goes to the UFO, she is teleported along with Chibi-Usa (but doesnt know it) and when she finds out she's there, she tries to say it's her cousin Chibi-Usa. Later on Chibi-Usa's moon appears and Rubeus knows she lied and trys to kill Sailormoon. Sailormoon uses her power along with Chibi-Usa's help and Rubeus dies on his UFO when he tells the UFO to self-destruct, the senshi use Sailor Teleport and leave the UFO behind.
Esmeraude (NA Emerald) takes over and tries to take over the Crystal Points (Crystal Points are positive energy in the future Crystal Tokyo), if they are taken over they would become evil,) they would be able to take over the future Tokyo. So now we know they are from the future. We also find out that Chibi-Usa is from the future Tokyo, and was sent by Sailorpluto (Guardian of Time) to get the Ginzuishou to help her mother in the future. What happened to her mother? Well she was struck by an immense power of negative energy, the senshi cast their powers, and surround the queen in a quartz crystal shell. This attack was orchestrated, by different people same race. The aliens could not attack the palace because it had a force field around it done by the Sailor senshi.
After a long and struggling effort, all the Inner Senshi, and Tuxedo Kamen tell Chibi-Usa they want to go in the future to help her mother. They teleport there and are attacked by Sailorpluto, when the fog clears Sailorpluto sees that the invaders are the senshi. She apollogises, and tells them to procede carefully, the senshi leave, and go to to future only to find it grim, and dispared. Chibi-Usa runs off, and the senshi run after to find her, they are halted by King Endymion, and are taken to the palace, they are told about who's who and what not. Usagi and Mamoru find out that Chibi-Usa is their daughter, and that they will once day become King and Queen of Crystal Tokyo, Usagi tries to heal the future Queen but can't and Chibi-Usa runs off and is captured by Wise man, she is manipulated to believe she is alone, and is transformed into Black Lady, she then tries to destroy the senshi, but Sailormoon heals her with the help of Neo Queen Serenity. Sailormoon then becomes Neo-Queen Serenity, and fights Wise Man, with the help of Chibi-Usa (the crystal that Chibi-Usa had dissapeared in her body, but was exctracted out by a tear) and the senshi. Wise Man is destroyed and there is peace once more in past and present. Chibi-Usa makes her final goodbye's and returns back to the future.
