- Biography -
Rei first appeared in episode 10, "The Cursed Bus! The Warrior of Flames, Mars Appears." Rei is a young priestess who lives in a temple with her grandpa. She has unique powers which tend to frighten her fellow classmates. She provides fortunes to people who come to her temple. One day, children come up missing at the temple where Rei works at. Luna tells Usagi to disguise herself as a school teacher to find out what is happening to the children. While Usagi is on the bus, she and the other children are captured and sent to another dimension. Rei ends up being captured as well and while fighting against a Youma; her planetary symbol appears on her forehead. Luna sees it and throws Rei her henshin pen. She transforms, uses her “Fire Soul” attack and Sailormoon defeats it. The children are returned and Rei joins Sailormoon and Sailormercury in their quest to find the Moon Princess.
Rei’s father is a politician and her mother died when she was very young; which is why she lives with her grandpa in the temple. Rei also attends TA Private Middle School which is why her outfit differs from the other senshi. Rei has a short temper and seems to enjoy taking it out on other people, especially people she cares about like Usagi and Yuuichirou. She loves reading Manga, going shopping, and chasing boys. In the beginning of the series, she was dating Mamoru for awhile. She really liked him, but when she found out that Usagi and him were past lovers, and were destined to be together, she slowly let him go. As the season progressed, a boy named Yuuichirou began working at the temple. Yuuichirou instantly fell in love with Rei, but Rei never really returned his feelings. She really liked him but never revealed her true feelings.
Rei and Usagi have a very unique relationship. They are constantly fighting with one another, but in the end they both know they care for one another. In the beginning, Rei couldn’t stand the fact Usagi was the Moon Princess. In one episode in the first season, she went as far as taking the Ginzuishou away from Sailormoon. She considered Usagi as a lazy, crybaby who was weak compared to the others. However, as time went on, Rei saw Usagi grow as a person, and respected her position. Also as time went on, Rei became the most protective of Usagi. When situations worsened, she was the first one to fight for Usagi, and would fight for her until the end.
As Sailormars, her fire attacks are considered the strongest of the Inner Senshi (besides Sailormoon). In the battle against the DD Girls, there were two girls left and only Sailormoon and Sailormars left alive. Sailormars told Usagi not to worry and then runs off to go fight them. She is about to attack them, but they fly underneath her. She looks around and is suddenly swallowed by the ground. A brief silence occurs and unexpectedly one of the girls flies up from the ground. Just as she’s about to attack Sailormoon, Sailormars uses her “Fire Soul” attack and kills her. The battle continues on, but Sailormoon becomes restless and calls out for Rei. The last DD Girl then rises with Sailormars’ body. She drops Rei down and begins to fly up, but Sailormars grabs a hold of the Youma and uses her “Fire Soul” attack again, destroying it and saving Usagi. Rei is also the only senshi who has her own personal powers which she can use as Rei or as Sailormars. She can sense danger, she can see into the future, and can dispel evil spirits. In one episode, Sailormars was able to use her powers to remove a possession spell on multiple people at once with her Ofuda scrolls.

Mars Power, Make-Up
Rei says this to transform into the powerful Sailormars. She was the third senshi to
receive her powers from Luna. Rei was being attacked by a Youma, but when Luna saw her
planetary symbol glowing, she gave Rei her henshin pen and told her to transform into
Sailormars.
Fire Soul
Sailormars uses this attack to set various enemies on fire. She spins around and brings
her two index fingers together while shouting her attack. She then creates a ball of fire
which spirals out towards the enemy.
Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen! Akuryou Taisan!
This attack was developed on her own before becoming a Sailor senshi. She uses it both as
Rei and as Sailormars. She holds up an ofuda scroll and chants her attack. She then throws
the scroll at the target, paralyzing it or dispelling evil spirits from it.
Mars Star Power, Make-Up
This is Sailormars' second transformation. After a few battles with some really strong
Cardians, Luna and Artemis felt it was time to power up the senshi. Sailormars'
transformation is almost identical, however she poses in front of a Mars symbol in the end.
Fire Soul Bird
Sailormars created this attack after a Cardian ruined her concert she was putting on for her
school. This attack is almost identical to her "Fire Soul" attack. However in the end, the
ball of fire changes into a phoenix and hits the enemy. This attack was only used once.
Burning Mandala
Sailormars spins around and creates a circle of fire around her body with her hand. The
ring of fire transforms into small balls of fire with buddhist symbols inside each one.
They disappear and change into rings of fire. She then shoots them from her hands.
Mars Crystal Power, Make-Up
This is Sailormars' third transformation. Her Star Pen was upgraded by Pegasus
because her previous form was not strong enough. He gave her this power after she put her
trust in him. The transformation sequence ends with her in front of a bow and arrow.
Mars Flame Sniper
Sailormars uses her fire power in the form of a bow and arrow. She puts her hand down as
her henshin symbol appears. Streams of fire surround her body as she pulls her fire arrow
back. She aims the arrow at the target and shoots it; immersing it in flames.
